This advanced-Arabic course on modern short stories covers the life and work of four writers: Mahmoud Taher Lashin, Naguib Mahfouz, Yusuf Idris, and Tayeb Salih. The selections expose the student to various literary styles, grammar through text analyses and writing assignments, advanced vocabulary and idiomatic expressions, as well as foster a deep appreciation and understanding of Arabic linguistic, literary, and cultural trends. The course includes advanced reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.
